Hi! :)

My husband, daughter & I moved out to the country a year ago. This year we decided to put in a garden & plant some fruit trees/bushes. :) It's been a labor of love for sure, but definitely worth it! :) We've had some issues with the blue jays, deer & Japanese beetles feasting on our plants...but thanks to some advice/tips from y'all on the HFI FB page...I think we've finally out smarted the critters ~ yeah! :) I tried my hand at canning recently & used some cucumbers from the garden to make dill pickles. It was a lot of fun & I was very proud to show off & share my final product...lol :) I would like to do more canning, so I'm taking baby steps & will be trying my hand at strawberry jam & salsa soon. (thanks to Matt for the recipes :) ) We are planning to get a few chickens after winter & I'm looking forward to add fresh eggs to the list of delicious treats we will be able to provide to our family & friends. :) I love this group & I really appreciate all of the available resources, as well as the opportunity to ask questions to the gardening veterans of the group. :)
Keep smiling! :)

Yup, you're hooked!! See it starts out with just the garden, then it blossoms into chickens! From there it goes into more and more awesome and fun areas like building a hydroelectric dam on your property from a creek that is nearby;) Ha ha ha! B)

This gal talks to us about things in more detail;)

CD, the joke on the hydroelectric dam is she has a creek around her house and I told her to build something to use the water to generate power;) You know me! Ha ha ha!
