Hi, my name is Di.

I live in Perth, Western Australia. I coordinate a community garden here called "Crossroads Community Garden".

I am learning so much so I try and surround myself with people who are far more experienced :)

I love the permaculture approach to life. At home we grow many of our own vegetables and have planted fruit trees. We are planning a space in our yard for chickens and will soon have a pond area.

This site is wonderful. I look forward to learning a lot more with some wonderful people.

God Bless

HI, I hear things have been very hot in NSW. We are heading for a heatwave as well here. I think the weekend will hit 39 and 40 degrees. Thankfully we are going on holidays down south so that will be a little cooler.

Yikes! That's too hot to go outside. Make sure to mulch really good:)

Yes, mulch is very important. We are able to access free tree mulch which is great. I think though I should alternate with lupin mulch? I find it takes a while for the tree mulch to break down. We have very sandy soil here in Perth so I have added bentonite clay and then used sheep and cow manure. It will take awhile though for our soil to be great. We also dig our food scraps into the soil and have just started a worm farm.
