I had a member ask if I could share the plans of my PVC trellises. We kind of just made them up as we went along.
I do have an excel file that I am going to try to attach here with the plans we drew up.
We went shopped at for all the strange joints. I really thought we could get everything at Home Depot but we were wrong.
During the growing season we have peas or beans growing up the trellises. It helps to build privacy from the neighbors.
So let's see if this works or not lol
Crossing fingers! :S

I wonder if there is a way I can make the excel file more like a photo so that you don't have to trust a strange file.
Let me see what I can figure out.

Panda, this is awesome! Did you have any trouble with plants attaching themselves to the pvc pipes? I used some tent stakes for my beans last year and I had to put strings across and around the stakes. Every time the wind blew very much I would find bean stems had slipped down. I live in an historic neighborhood and my back yard has a privacy fence but with the Hugelkultur Garden beside my house open to the neighborhood I have to stay within the guidelines and must create something that " won't detract from the quality of the neighborhood" as the city so nicely stated. :S

Your plans look like an excellent idea but I'd have to buy the pipe one section at a time as my budget allows! LOL.

One tip I can offer on building with PVC pipe is that the UV from the sun will break it down and turn it brown. If you spray paint it, this will protect it for years to come.

I got this tip from a pool guy in AZ who paints all the pool pipes (usually to match the houses).

CD, We were going to build all of the trellises using copper pipe. We made two and they are beautiful! But with all the gardens it was getting too expensive so we pulled them and decided to go with PVC and used the copper ones in our front yard until last fall when we were redoing some of our outside plans. now they are just pulled up waiting for a new home this spring.
The beans have not had a problem growing on them but the peas needed string or netting to hold onto.

Here is the picture of the two copper trellises. I am sure I will find a good home in one or two of my gardens this spring for these beauties.
