I just love having chickens:) Get lots of fresh eggs, they work the ground for me, and they are just very helpful when guided properly!

This is Red. She is my families fav chicken:) She almost died once and that is how I think she became or fav!

Nice Girls Matt.
Mine are still a little young currently 5 @10 weeks and 8 @ 6 weeks old. I refer to them as the chicks(older) and the chickpeas(younger). Not sure of the sex of my chickpeas because they came from a local farm unsexed but I have what I think are 2RIR (Victoria & Jane) & 2 white leghorns ( Jessica & Angela) that were sexed pullets and 1 bantam silkie that wasn't sexed from TSC but I think it's a girl and gave her the name Bella

The chickpeas were all suppose to be Ameraucana but there is a black and white one that doesn't fit the characteristics.

My girls love when I go out to the coop. As soon as I sit down the are all over me. Looks like a baby Ninja my black and white one.

Awesome looking girls:) I wish I had more land you would see chicken chunnels running all over my land to guide my girls to tend the soil, turn the compost, etc etc! Panda (a great member and friend) is doing just that with the chunnels! HAVE A LOOK!

The chunnels will be one of my next projects:)

I usually let them free range when they are older but I might have to try that. Its such a great idea. Right now our backyard is work in progress (tree removal and maybe prepare for a larger garden for next year), so until we are closer to being done that project will be on hold.

I thought of putting this over the 2 tree trunks that will be left in the yard. Would work well for a strawberry patch or herbs :)
