Hello Everyone! This is a great site. We are have lots of bears through our property in Southwest Florida. The Black Bear here is an endangered species so we can't hunt them, paintball them, etc. We are only allowed to use "noise" makers or an electric fence. I just bought the supplies to electric fence the coop and run I just built. I am hoping to get chickens this month. How many strands should I run? I should also mention we have bobcats, coyote, raccoons, foxes and panthers. The pen is chain link 10x10x6 and will house the 4x4x6coop and is built on a concrete pad. The run 10x20x4 will be fenced with 4 foot cattle fencing. Both will have hardware cloth the bottom 3 feet and poultry fencing over the rest of the enclosure. Both will have canvas tops covered with chicken wire because of the hawks, owls and eagles. Just looking to provide the most secure location for our new feathered friends.

So many predidtors!!! Shesh:( Can you post some photos of the area so we can see and get a better picture of how to keep your girls safe?
