Okay people I for some ungodly reason feel the need to hatch chickens (I know not a parrot but its still a bird) so I built a incubator out of a 10 gallon aquarium with a towel wraped around for insulation a porcelain light fixture with 100 wt bulb PC fan dimmer switch a egg carton a criter keeper container with a sponge in it for humidity and a thermometer I've had it set up for 2 days bow temps staying at 99.5 to 100 perfect for hatching chicken eggs I get my eggs from a local chicken farm tmrw wish me luck I know I'm new to group but will keep y'all updated.

I'm curious to see if this works. I prefer to let another hen sit on the eggs, but if you don't have one....this would be the next best option. Keep us posted!

I'm curious to see if how he set it up will hold the humidity needed. Tried to get him to join so that we can discuss it on here but he's happy with Facebook:) When he post I will try to post updates.

A hen sitting on the eggs seems to be the way to go;)

This is my homemade Incubator. I used a small Styrofoam cooler, Cut a hole in the top and places a piece of glass 8x10 (from an old picture frame. I also cut out a hole in the side for the light. I used a 20 watt bulb. Inside I put a dish with water and a sponge under the light to keep the humidity up. I also bought a Humidity monitor from Walmart ($8 ) Once the temp got to 98 and humidity was about 60% I put 4 eggs in. A week later I added 3 more. Out of the first 4, only one made it. and the others 2 had babies but one died around day 14 because it was cracked. I ended up with 2 baby chicks. :)

They are doing GREAT!!! Penny is 4 weeks and Bernadette is 3 weeks. They both know their own names when I call them. If I dont pay attention to them they will squawk LOUDLY until I let them out of the cage. Then they sit on me and go to sleep. Its really funny. They are both still inside. We have to build a coop. The weather here has been crappy the past few weeks. It was cold then rainy then SUPER freezing in the teens. Now its just cold. Im not putting them out in this weather. 2 more months and they will be outside. I let them out of their cage all the time and they chase be around the house. The youngest really thinks shes a flying bird. She tries to reach the highest thing possible. LOL

I also built my own feeder too out of 2 inch PVC pipe. There is going to be a 5ft pipe that connects to it when I put it outside.

This looks really great. I have a friend who made an incubator out of a cooler as well I don't think she put the glass in it though. I am wondering if you have a better picture of the entire thing not just s shot from the top down so that I can better see how you put it together.
