Ok so a friend of mine just asked me if I wanted a duck. She said its a female Mallard. The owners had 2 and one was killed and is all alone. So I said yes I will take her. I just hope she is ok with the chickens. I do have a separator fence in the coop right now so I can keep them from fighting until they get use to each other. I just don't know how long that will take. I have had Peking ducks a while back but never Mallards.

Is there anything special I should know about them?

Here is a picture of her they sent me. Her name is Lilly. I love ducks and have a turtle sandbox I will fill with water for her. I'm so excited, just hope they get along well quickly.

Do you plan on getting another if she works out?

If I can find her a mate I would love to get her one. I haven't seen anyone around here with these before. It would be good for her and me. With a mate means fertile eggs and more ducks. Besides I love the taste of duck eggs. I will post pics when she gets here.

As more and more members join us we can do things like that. I want ducks but I here they can be loud so it is a no go for me for now:(
